The 'classic' FPV camera in a smaller size, known in many circles as the '1177'. This version comes in a 25x25mm lightweight plastic case giving you some protection and the ability to mount the camera and change your tilt angle. As of Dec 8, 2015 it comes with the connector at the top left corner (rather than the bottom right), making it easier to get a lot of camera tilt without having the cable run into the mounting surface. This camera easily fits between the 35mm spacers used in miniquads where the larger cased camera must be removed and board mounted. The bracket comes with predrilled holes to enable mounting and tilting within frames but we find the metal to be soft and prefer to make a mount out of a firm foam and glue the camera in place.
We use this camera on most of our personal builds and get great results by just turning on WDR in the exposure menu. While there are many adjustments that can be made, this usually takes care of most situations.
The camera has enhanced regulation giving an operating voltage range of 5 - 22V. You can run this straight off a 4S battery and combined with the right transmitter, can eliminate the need for a separate FPV regulated source on 4S machines.
Camera weighs 12.5g + 2.6g for optional bracket and screws
Please note, there is no warranty when used with 'Littlebee' ESCs as these have been shown to put voltage spikes back into the main power system.
Note on IR block
The camera is available with or without Infrared block. IR block is normally used in digital cameras and video to avoid the effect of infrared radiation on the sensor. The IR block offers more accurate color. With the IR block removed however, low light sensitivity is improved significantly. If you want to fly in low light or at night, choose the No IR block version. If you want the best color for daytime flying, choose the IR block.
