A small, adjustable stepdown regulator used to reduce voltage for devices that can't accept full battery voltage. Use this in scenarios like:
- running 4S-6S battery power with 12v FPV equipment
- running 3-6S power with 5v equipment such as cameras, control boards and servos
- running 12v gear on a machine that runs both 3S and 4S batteries***
- running 12v LEDs on a 4-6S machine
Switch mode design makes these very efficient and cool running. They usually come set around 12V but you must check and set the level with a meter before connecting to your valuable equipment!
***we have tested this regulator with the full range of 12v cameras and transmitters that we sell. Every stepdown regulator needs some 'headroom' to deliver the set output voltage - the input must be above the target level in order to regulate down. This particular regulator has exceptional performance in that it only causes a 0.2 volt drop when the input voltage falls to output target or below. As a result, it's suitable for a dual 3S/4S machine. Even at 9v, when you've just about killed your 3S lipo, this regulator will output 8.8v which is still enough to maintain operation of the PZ camera (which operates as low as 7.8v) and the various transmitters we sell.
Comfortably delivers 2A of current while maintaining reasonable temperature. If your current needs are under 1.2A you can consider the micro stepdown (enough to easily power vtx and camera). We recommend a dab of hot glue or sealant to secure the trim pot after you've set the voltage. Adjustments to the trim pot can be made with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
